Studio Alter is an interior design studio and curated store in the centre of Leiden. In the store, we bring together furniture, accessories and everyday objects selected with an appreciation for Scandinavian design. We look for considered forms, quality materials and pieces that are made to be used and enjoyed over time.

The store is a place to explore how objects, colours and materials work together. Some pieces make a statement; others are quieter. Each is chosen for what it can bring to a space and to everyday life.

Alongside the store, our design studio creates interiors for residential and commercial clients. We work closely with the people behind each project, taking time to understand how they live or work and what they need from a space.

These conversations shape the design. We consider the layout, custom design, light, materials and details as parts of a whole, guiding projects from the first concept through to their final realisation.

The store and studio continue to inform one another. A material discovered during a project might lead us to a new maker; an object from the store might find its place in an interior. That exchange is an essential part of Studio Alter.
